ZebraKet

ZebraKet is a Canadian cleantech startup specializing in methane leak detection through quantum computing and AI methods. Founded after the University of Toronto Creative Destruction Lab Quantum Stream bootcamp, the company initially developed inventory optimization for retail before pivoting in 2023 to sensor fusion and placement optimization for methane leak detection in the energy industry after joining Next AI. ZebraKet also participated in the University of Maryland Quantum Startup Foundry Pre-Traqtion program. The team includes Alex Khan (CEO, former CPO at Chicago Quantum who co-authored papers on portfolio optimization using D-Wave), along with Ehsan Torabizadeh, Ákos Nagy PhD, Prathamesh Tamhane, Weichen Xie, and Naren Sathishkumar. The startup addresses methane emissions which are responsible for over 25% of global warming, with Canadian legislation requiring fast-paced abatement from the oil and gas sector.
